What you'll do

The Engineering Program Manager (EPM) is a critical team member of the engineering department and is the key interface between the client, vendors, partners, and the internal team. The EPM is responsible for ensuring client success through leadership and execution of client projects. The role is multi-faceted and requires an individual that enjoys new technical and engineering challenges, managing multiple and complex programs, directing and mentoring engineers, and working with clients.

The ideal candidate has prior experience working with Western clients and hardware product development and manufacturing of consumer electronics. This person should be highly process-driven and detailed-oriented, excellent with written and verbal communication in English, and able to handle a rapid, complex situation with ease. The ideal candidate is also curious-minded, enjoys new challenges, proactive, collaborative, and has a “can-do” attitude to overcome obstacles.

The Engineering Program Manager’s responsibilities will include the following:

  • Leading the program team in the implementation of the program in a manner that exceeds our client’s expectations
  • Responsible for management of assigned programs through all phases of manufacturing including detailed design, tooling, EVT, DVT, pre-production, and production ramp to ensure a program is completed on time, within or under budget, meets product requirements, quality requirements, and exceeds client expectations
  • Drives the day-to-day program activities to meet the overall program objectives
  • Ensures factory readiness and manufacturing processes leading to sustaining development and introduction of new products
  • Interfaces directly with clients, vendors, internal and external engineering teams as the main point of contact for all activities and communication to facilitate requirements, communication, decision making, and issue resolution
  • Responsible for program scheduling, task tracking, issue tracking, risk management, budget management, and resource management
  • Prepare reports of budget and schedule to management regularly
  • Identifies and pro-actively mitigates risks in the program
  • Be a pro-active leader and anticipate engineering, manufacturing, quality, process, and supply chain issues and follow through to identify and implement solutions. Oversee and ensure implementation of ECR/ECO process
  • Supports supply chain activities to source, audit, qualify, commercial negotiation, recommend and select component suppliers, toolers, vendors, and manufacturing partners
  • Provides ongoing relationship management of strategic vendors and partners
  • Must be able to work on and lead multiple projects in parallel
What you need to know
  • 2-5 years project management experience for electronic products
  • Experience handling multiple projects at a time, delivering these projects successfully with a high level of detail
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, plan and communicate with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication and planning abilities
  • Excellent command of Cantonese, English, and Mandarin
