Omielife needed to improve the manufacturing quality of its first generation OmieBox bento box for kids and develop a supply chain plan to support the company’s growth and increasing orders for its product.
The Q Design solution
For the first generation OmieBox, our team helped source a new contract manufacturer and transferred the tooling to the new supplier. Q Design then worked closely with the CM to improve manufacturing yield and implement quality control processes, resulting in a more stable production and high quality product.
Q Design continued to work with Omielife to develop and manufacture subsequent models including the next version of the OmieBox and the new OmieGo bento box for adults.
The technology
Matrix Industries uses proprietary, patented thermoelectric energy harvesting technology to build self-powered solutions for assets.
The impact
Matrix has already implemented its technology in a broad range of wearables, industrial process monitoring and waste heat harvesting, translating to large amount of energy being conserved over time.
The opportunity
With the ability to harvest thermal energy with just a minute temperature difference, Matrix can be the fundamental building block to power billions of IoT devices, especially in environments where battery charging and replacement is impossible, impractical and cost-prohibitive.

Q Capital, together with Q Design, have been working extensively with Matrix on product development, manufacturing, commercialization and fundraising.
The technology
Neteera’s radar-based microsensor and proprietary algorithm can continuously monitor health vital signs completely contactless, through clothing and without using any disposables.
The impact
Neteera’s technology have been implemented in public wellness kiosks and in hospital & clinic for triage and screening. Additional use cases include elderly wellness and assisted living monitoring and patient monitoring during various types of medical procedure.
The opportunity
Convenient and non-invasive health vital signs monitoring service will have increasing demand due to growing ageing populations globally. COVID-19 global pandemic makes a contactless and continuous monitoring solution like Neteera even more important.
The icing on the cake
Q Capital, with Q Lab, has been working closely with Neteera and an Asia-based consumer product company to jointly develop a new product line for baby wellness monitoring.
The problem
Matrix Industries developed an innovative new thermoelectric module that could harvest tiny amounts of heat energy and convert it into useful electricity. The company wanted to showcase their breakthrough technology and demonstrate its usefulness in a body heat-powered smartwatch.
The Q Design solution
Our team worked with Matrix and the Industrial Design partner to design, engineer and manufacture Powerwatch – the world’s first body heat powered smartwatch. Q Design led the complete engineering of the product, app development and manufacturing and helped ship tens of thousands of watches. We subsequently worked with Matrix to design, engineer and also manufacture Powerwatch 2.

Q Design referred Matrix Industries to Q Capital, which later invested in the company and helped introduce new customers and investors. Q Capital also serves on the Board as an Observer
The technology
AREVO provides “manufacturing-as-a-service” with its proprietary 3D printing technology and enables companies to develop and manufacture new products made with ultra-strong, lightweight continuous carbon fiber at scale.
The impact
AREVO enables fabrication of high-strength, low-weight, fully customizable and on-demand carbon fiber parts at scale, impossible with today’s standard techniques. This translates to significant savings in material usage, transportation costs, and production time.
The opportunity
AREVO’s strong and lightweight materials enables lightweighting and on-demand carbon fiber parts for a wide range of applications, including industrial, aerospace, automotive and consumer products. It has the potential to become the pioneer to redefine existing manufacturing process.

Q Capital works closely with AREVO to identify and collaborate with potential clients in Asia, the biggest manufacturing hub in the world.
